Eligibility
The Colonial Fund Scholarship is available to current William Floyd High School seniors looking to enroll in (four-year) college for the academic year immediately following high school graduation.
Mission Statement
The Colonial Fund was established to aid those students in pursuit of academic and personal excellence, who also find themselves in a position of financial need.
Important Notes
Applications are due by on March 1st at 5:00 pm EST, (Year of graduation). NO EXCEPTIONS.
Incomplete or late applications will not be considered without approval from the scholarship board, which must be requested in advance.
Applications must be submitted online through your account.
Information Required for Application
Students are required to submit all items below. All documents should be saved and submitted in Word or PDF format, no pictures please.
High school transcript, including class rank. (students can get this from guidance counselor)
Minimum of two recommendations, one of which must be from a WFHS faculty member
Essay explaining student’s current situation, why he/she fits the Mission Statement, and how college fits into the long-range plan.
List of colleges applied to, in order of preference; the list must include when acceptance decisions are due for each institution.
List of other scholarships applied for.
List of extracurricular activities and achievements, including years of involvement.
Evidence of financial need; examples include copies of parent’s tax returns, essays from the student and/or a written explanation from a parent, etc.
